Support Every STEP of Your Way...
Emotional regulation is important for all as we navigate day to day. At times we can be triggered, igniting behaviours that are extreme and socially challenging. Learn to recognize your emotions, express them and regulate them to remain engaged in personal, social or work activities.
We will provide you with a programmed augmentative communication device for personal, work or community engagement purposes; training for you and your network to use the devices effectively; and specialization to best meet your language needs and budget.
Structured Transition Engagement Plan (STEP) programs provide supported recreational, leisure and work experiences for adults with support needs. We help support adults to be engaged for 30 hours weekly. A program is made of 4 x training modules. The Total Program is 6-72+ months in duration.
We are part of Your Support Network with:
To engage, nurture, and inspire neurodiverse youth and adults to thrive through education, employment, engagement, and wellness.
Today’s Support Service System: The average cost of annual service is $28,300-$119,500 per year, for 6:1 towards 1:1 intensive support from parents & support providers for days, evenings and overnights. Unfortunately, Passport Funding supports only $5,000 - $35,000 per individual annually.
- "Group homes for adults with autism unaffordable and inaccessible, parents say," ...funds hardly reach the amount he would need to afford a private group home in Ontario*, which can cost around $90,000 per year.** (Pg. 341, Figure 5: Actual Cost per Bed by Residential Service Type, 2012/13)
- There is a wave of ~20,000 adults who will need residential support services in the coming 10 years, as boomers age. “Approximately 42,000 adults in Ontario are currently receiving ministry-funded developmental services and supports through developmental services agencies, including 18,000 in residential settings,” said Ministry of Community and Social Services spokesperson Kristen Tedesco in an email. Many of our Members face a Shortfall of $15,000-$69,800 per person, per year for their 60-Month Transition Plans.
There simply isn’t Enough funding to cover the costs for their transitional support needs.
But You Can HELP! With a Contribution of Support, you can choose to support an individual directly by paying for their program fees, or indirectly by gifting towards the completion of technology to support community inclusion with lowers support needs.
You will be sent an update on who your contribution supported and how they benefited from your gift.
When we reach our targets, we will provide you with a thank you gift equivalent to 20% of your contribution. You can either keep it or gift that towards our annual fundraising auction.
Your support is greatly appreciated!
